Building Your Wealth: Taxes Behind the Curtain
What happens behind the scenes financially can shape a creative career just as much as what happens on stage or in the studio.
Building Your Wealth: Taxes Behind the Curtain is a practical workshop designed to help music industry professionals better understand how taxes truly impact their income, growth, and long-term wealth. Hosted at The Foundry Recording Studio and led in partnership with Master Street Wealth and financial professional Lynne Fraction, this session pulls back the curtain on the financial realities creatives often overlook.
This is not a lecture filled with jargon. It’s a focused conversation built specifically for artists, producers, engineers, studio owners, and independent contractors navigating 1099 income, fluctuating revenue, write-offs, and long-term planning.
What You’ll Learn
How taxes actually affect creative professionals behind the scenes
The difference between reactive tax filing and proactive tax strategy
How today’s financial decisions influence long-term stability and wealth
Foundational concepts that empower smarter, more informed action
Common blind spots creatives face — and how to avoid them
Whether you’re touring, freelancing, running sessions, or building your own brand, understanding your tax structure is a core part of building sustainable success. The goal is clarity, confidence, and control — not overwhelm.
This workshop is geared toward professionals in the music industry who want to move beyond guessing and start approaching their finances with intention. Because building your wealth isn’t just about what you earn — it’s about how you manage what you keep.

How To Stand Out In Auditions
Most singers walk into auditions trying to be liked.
The singers who get remembered walk in knowing exactly what they’re there to communicate.
In this seminar, GRAMMY® nominated baritone and director Johnathan McCullough reframes the audition not as an evaluation, but as a performance opportunity. Drawing on years of experience on both sides of the table, this session breaks down how casting panels actually listen, decide, and remember singers, and how small shifts in mindset, preparation, and presentation can dramatically change outcomes.
By taking part in this class, young artists will learn a clear, repeatable audition framework they can use for schools, companies, competitions, and summer programs. They will also gain practical tools for preparation that reduce anxiety and increase confidence with a sharper understanding of how to stand out without trying to impress.
This seminar is offered in partnership with The Foundry Recording Studio and is recommended for high school, college students, and emerging professionals in Classical Voice and Musical Theater preparing for conservatory programs, summer festivals, competitions, or professional auditions.
Immediately following the seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in Mock Auditions.
These optional sessions allow singers to step directly into a simulated audition environment and apply the framework and mindset shifts discussed in the seminar. Participants will perform for a panel of experienced professionals and receive thoughtful, constructive feedback on presentation, repertoire choices, communication, and overall impact. In addition to the feedback, you will receive an audio and video recording of your audition for your review.
This is a rare opportunity to test what you’ve just learned in a supportive, real-world setting — refining your approach, strengthening your confidence, and gaining clarity on how you are truly being perceived in the room.
Mock audition spots are limited and available by advance sign-up.

The First Steps To A Great Mix
Great mixes don’t begin with plugins. They begin with preparation.
In this focused, professional development session, The Foundry’s Studio Director, Jason Wegfahrt, breaks down the foundational workflow that sets every strong mix apart: intentional gain staging, clean and consistent track naming, strategic bussing, and why starting in mono sharpens your balance and perspective.
This class is about mix prep and structure. You’ll learn how a properly prepared session leads to faster decisions, clearer balances, and more confident creative moves. Whether you’re mixing your own productions, stepping into client sessions, or assisting mixing engineers with mix prep, these first steps create the stability that allows the artistry to thrive.
If your mixes feel cluttered, inconsistent, or harder than they should be, the issue often isn’t your taste — it’s your preparation. This session gives you the framework to fix that.
